Accreditation: benefits

ECBE currently offers two forms of accreditation Program and Institutional.

Member institutions securing Program Accreditation can thereby demonstrate to their stakeholders that their study programs in business, management, economic and related subjects are internationally recognised against standards that have been mapped to the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG). Consequently, ECBE considers these programs comparable in quality to equivalent programs at other institutions that adhere to these standards. Students, parents and employers should therefore have confidence in the quality of the education provided and in the knowledge and capability of the institution’s graduates. In particular, Program Accreditation considers the content, structure and delivery of courses and demonstrates that ECBE has adjudged these to meet threshold standards expected in the discipline.

Institutional Accreditation can be secured as an addition to program accreditation and serves as confirmation that the institutional policies, processes and procedures to support its Higher Education are fit for purpose, comprehensive and consistently applied. Institutions securing this accreditation have demonstrated that they have appropriate arrangements in place in relation to academic governance, learning resources, teaching and assessment and student support. It therefore allows institutions to provide stakeholders with assurance about institutional management and systems and the providers commitment to quality improvement.

ECBE’s philosophy is that quality begins at program level. Institutional accreditation is therefore only offered as an addition to program accreditation. You can find out more about accreditation fees here. Institutions must also be members of ECBE to apply for accreditation. More general benefits of membership include networking, support, access to member events and publications, free places at the ECBE annual conference and a regular newsletter showcasing international quality assurance developments and member news. Further information about membership, include fees, is available here.
